Great resource for a quick review of Italian verb conjugations

As a teacher of Italian for adults, who are quick and demanding learners, I know how important it is to have handy a quick review chart of Italian verb conjugations which can be very useful when you cannot remember the difference between the future endings and the conditional (they're so similar!) So it's nice to have this chart readily available to refresh my recollection of the tenses. Since we are not immersed in Italian, we need to do a lot of memorization of verb conjugations in order to master the differences in tenses. I need all the help I can get sometimes in order to remember all these tenses!

Could use more irregulars

Since Italian is almost as full of irregular verbs as English, conjugations of the more common ones would be helpful. But as a resource, this card works well. I've put it in my travel notebook along side the similar vocabulary card and both will be airplane study on my trips to Italy.

Amazing "little secrets"

This book should be a "must" for any and everyone studying metaphysics and/or human energy. It provides keys to self-understanding from several different angles. Find info about healing herbs for you, individually; healing tone that is specifically yours, learn about your aura and what it means/how to use it to your advantage; also has a numerology methodology; breathing techniques for healing and awakening. This book was out of print for a long time. I was soooooo glad to see it come back.

God Does Answer Prayer - But in His Time

In my life it has seemed at first like God wasn't answering my prayers but as soon as my heart changed my prayers were answered. Kellie Lane brings up a good point. If we "regard iniquity" in our hearts God will not hear our prayers. So it is best to always ask for forgiveness of sins before you start asking God for things you need or want.

I found this book calming and healing. Each chapter ends with a meaningful prayer.

This book will especially be helpful to people who feel like things are getting worse the more they pray. If we remember that what we are going through is for our spiritual good then it is easier to deal with life's problems.

I think this book will benefit all readers and will help make prayers more effective.

Once I started reading I absolutely could not put it down. The content really caused me to reflect on some things in my personal life. Lane inspired me to become a better person. She also confirmed God's promises to me as his child. I highly recommend this book to anyone who could stand a bit of encouragement, anyone who may feel as if their efforts in prayer have gone unnoticed and/ or to those who desire a deeper relationship with their Creator. Tensegrity for mma!

The true power of wing chun, is it's internal power developed from their unique inner body structure. This is the secret of what made Bruce Lee so great. The internal power is what all jeet kune do and mma practitioners lack.

Adding the structure back in to wing chun and jkd adds a whole new dimension of strength and power to the art of expressing the human body in martial form.

In science this form of body structure is referred to as tensegrity (tension + integrity). With tensegrity training forces from ones opponents are evenly distributed throughout the entire structure rather than accumulating at certain joints. This makes you much harder to take down, and you will feel like a bulldozer in a clinch.

Even your punching and kicking will be far more powerful with body structure. Hawkins would be proud.

Without a doubt this is the best book on Wing Chun I have ever had the privilege to read. With the exception of a few, most Wing Chun books just give an over view of the system and some pictures of forms without going into much detail. Alan's book covers the aspects of the art that cannot be demonstrated by mere pictures. This book explains the essence of Wing Chun that and the subtleties that are the foundation of the art in great detail. He does a good job of explaining the elements that can't be seen with the eye, but must be felt.

Defiantly a book every Wing Chun practitioner should have.

About the authors

Gerardo Ruiz Mercado

Chemical Engineer, Sustainable Technology Division, Office of Research and Development (ORD), at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA).

Dr. Ruiz-Mercado is an active member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), He was a recipient of the Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) fellowship during his graduate studies. Dr. Ruiz-Mercado holds a Ph.D. from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez (2009) and a B.S. (magna cum laude) from the University of Atlántico-Colombia (2002) all in chemical engineering. Before joining the U.S. EPA, Dr. Ruiz-Mercado continued his research studies as a Research Associate in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Heriberto Cabezas

Senior Science Advisor to the Sustainable Technology Division in the Office of Research and Development (ORD), at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics at the Peter Pazmany Catholic University in Hungary.

Dr. Cabezas is a former Chair of the Environmental Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). He was a recipient of the 2011 Research Excellence Award in Sustainable Engineering from the AIChE, the ORD Sustainability Award (team) at the U.S. EPA, and the 2013 Lawrence K. Cecil Award in Environmental Chemical Engineering from the AIChE. Dr. Cabezas holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida (1985) in thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, a M.S. from the University of Florida (1981), and a B.S. (magna cum laude) from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (1980) all in chemical engineering. He is a Fellow of the AIChE, a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a Board Certified Member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists.

Weathering the Wilderness is essential reading for backpackers,skiers and mountaineers. In layman's terms this book explans the weather phenomenon that can effect your well-being in the outdoors. This book also contains detailed climatic data for eight reagons of North America. When planing trips to other areas of the country this information is very usefull. Want to know the typical waether patterns and average rainfall for August on the Olymic Peninsula? Just look it up. Want to know more about microclimates and how they effect mountain weather, read this book. This will be a referance book that you will use time and again, season after season. And even if you never venture out of the house this is a great book for the amateur meteorologist.

About the Author
Diane Rayor is Professor of Classics at Grand Valley State University, where she teaches ancient Greek, mythology, women in antiquity, the classical world, and a classical theatre workshop in the department she co-founded in 2000. Her translations of Greek poetry include Homeric Hymns (2004) and Sappho's Lyre: Archaic Lyric and Women Poets of Ancient Greece (1991); excerpts appear in numerous anthologies, including Norton's Greek Poets (2009). She earned a PhD (1987) from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a BA (1980) from Colorado College. New translations of Euripides' Medea and Sappho's poetry are in progress.

Elegant translation, helpful intro and notes

It's been some years since I've read the traditional translations of this great play, but I found Professor Rayor's translation to be an elegant, very readable translation. I also found the introduction to ancient Greek tragedy, including the details of how the plays would have been performed, to be a helpful refresher, providing a historical and visual context for how the play would be performed. After all, it is a play: Aristotle (if I recall correctly) to the contrary, performance is critical. I appreciated Karen Libman's director's note on the initial performance based on this translation. I would like to have seen this, but I will keep my eyes open for a future performance somewhere.

You Must Buy This Book

You must buy this book if you want to find out how movies work, i.e., how they enrich our cultural experience and how they are made. Kawin's textbook is pleasantly readable by anyone interested in the cinema. It contains a wealth of information from film appreciation to film production (including explanations of various special effects!) to film studies. Every aspect of the cinema is clearly explained and illustrated with examples, and the book contains many still photographs, 96 of which are in color.
I think this is exactly how a "how-to" book should be written. I only wish it had been updated to reflect advances in the 1990s -- this book was first published in 1987 and reprinted in 1992.

My Film History Teacher In College

The author of this book, Bruce F. Kawin, taught my film history class at the University of Colorado at Boulder. One of my favorite professors in college, he used his own textbook in the class. I recommend pairing Mr. Kawin's excellent book with Short History of the Movies, A (11th Edition), written by Gerald Mast and edited by Mr. Kawin]]. When he needed to illustrate a technical innovation of film, he used his own book. When he needed to make a historical point, he used "A Short History". We met twice a week for fifteen weeks, three hours per class, where he talked for up to 30 minutes and let the films do the rest. It would be difficult to duplicate the screenings for the class. The first semester featured silent films exclusively. The first film we saw was the first film anyone paid to see in a theatre, "Workers Leaving the Factory", by the Lumiere Brothers(See Landmarks of Early Film, Vol. 1 for more). I saw Abel Gance's La Roue in 1992, years before the official DVD release. Mr. Kawin had carte blanche to borrow the only existing print in the world, at that time, from the Modern Museum of Art in New York City. We ended the first semester with F. W. Murnau's masterpiece Sunrise [Blu-ray]. The second semester covered sound film from Don Juan (Silent) [VHS], the first film with a recorded sound track, to John Carpenter's They Live, the film I wrote about on my final exam; comparing Roddy Piper's character Nada to Chaplin's Little Tramp. I have read many Film theory and technical books since my college days and, even though I may sound biased, I believe Mr. Kawin and Mr. Mast combined provide the best film history education money can buy.

About the Author

George Woodbury earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of California—Santa Barbara in 1990 and his master’s degree in mathematics from California State University—Northridge in 1994. He currently teaches at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, CA, just outside of Fresno. He has been honored as an instructor by both his students and his colleagues. Aside from teaching and writing, George served as the department chair of the math/engineering division from 1999 through 2004. He is the author of a series of algebra textbooks for Pearson Education, and has been a user of MyMathLab since inception, continually coming up with creative ways to integrate his teaching methods with technology.
